I would like to know where I can buy (and how much) an all-in-one 6-speed kit to replace my 86' 4+3 trans? I thought that I saw a post about a conversion kit that was around $2K but I don't remember.
Ok, the 4-speed trans I pulled yesterday had no oil in it and will need around 600 bucks in just parts to repair. I'm not sure what the labor will be but I figure ball park around 500 bucks. My supposedly new clutch (with less than 6Kmiles) is totally "F"ed. My thought is: why not get a 6-speed setup now since the tranny and clutch are toast.
Tranny w/shifter, BU switch & Speed Sensor NEW $1800 + shipping
ZF Bellhousing $125 + shipping
ZF Pull type Clutch, Disc & PP $ 275
Clutch Slave $90
Clutch Master $100 though not required if you use your master
Hydraulic hose $80
Flyweel $300 if you do a single mass conversion
Rear Yoke for drive shaft $50 from Salvage yard
C Beam, use your 86's
Longer ZR 1 ball stud $25.00
Someone correct me please if I have left any thing out
Hmmmmm. Sounds like lots of $$. I wonder if the 1-1.5K$ to fix the 4-speed is a better idea. But, then if the O/D unit needs repair soon I would have spent about the same on the 6-speed which would probably outlast the rest of the rig I would think.
There is another option, a kit to put in a 5 speed I think it is the tremec. This kit is done by a company called Keiser engineering, they advertise in the Vette Mags and were at Carlisle with kits from C2-C4.
