Im building a new engine for my 86,bored it 030 over, with a .449 intake .456 exhaust gross lift cam (comp cam part # 12-256-4)and the recomended springs, match ported heads and intake,5 angle valve job, with 1.6 roller rockers. No cats and flow master mufflers.just wondering if anybody would know what kind of HP I can expect
I didn't want to go big .It's going ot be driven daily and gas is outragous.Just wanted to give it a little more dependable power. And it has to pass emitions.
Well, you might gain about 15chp from the cam, maybe 10chp from the heads work (assuming they are not touching the bowls), ??? from the bore, and maybe 10chp from the exhaust work (assuming you still have the stock pre-cats and the stock cat).
This also assumes you have done no work on the intake, nothing with the T-stat nor with fuel delivery nor the chip.
Get rid of that iron head and slap on a set aluminum head with 2.02/1.60 you can get this from Summit for a hair over $1000. Don't use that baby *** cam. You can use LPE219 cam without the use of the super ram and it still make good hp and pass emission. Or LPE 211/219 cam.
