I have had an intermitant leak dripping from the front of the car for a few weeks. I finally found it. Its a crack in the upper right side of the radiator that extends 10 inches down the plastic side tanks. DAMN... I cant get over it. My car has a freaking plastic radiator!!!! I guess its gonna cost me a freaking fortune to replace that too. I have worked for 5 months to get this thing ready for the Eureka Springs show and now when I am supposed to leave on Monday morning to go out of town on buisness the freaking car gives me this damn deal! Ya know.. I love that car, but if it was a woman..I think I would divorce it!
Frank, mine started leaking when it was less than 2 years old. Go ahead a spend the money on a qaulity aluminum unit. I have a Ron Davis, but DeWitt's (a forum sponsor) has a great dropin radiator for a pretty reasonable price and I've only heard good thinks about their service. http://www.dewitts.com/pages/categor...s.asp?catID=19
Okay..somebody send me information on how to take the damn thing out. I dont have any way of lifting the car though if that is required. I am not sure I need a aluminum radiator though..and 5 bills is more than I care to spend right now.....read spent to much on it according to other household residents (If you get my drift.) So..in the intrest of peace, tell me how I can get the shroud off and I will give it a try.
CFI-EFI can hook you up with one of his connections to get a stock replacement made by Modine. I have a Modine in mine, it is exactly like stock and cost me $200.
You don't need the car in the air, but it does help for draining the RAD.
As for getting the shroud off, simple remove every bolt you see connected to it, but there are six hidden ones. Three on each side. Two on the drivers side can be accessed somewhat easily, but on teh drivers side, I had to remove the airpump and horn to get to two of them, then I lifted up on the entire assembly to reach the other ones.
Entire job including bleeding the system took me 3 hours in the dark. I also replaced all hoses and clamps.
FWIW, I picked up a new Modine rad for under $150 shipped (I swore to the guy I would not give the actual price out to the public, sorry). Unfortunately, I don't have the contact info anymore, but somebody here has it
