One of the guts of the camaro third gen forum tried the idea of a remote turbo on his Cavalier/Sunfire. He did a big writeup. He seemed to have good resullts.
Obviously the setup is not going to be as good as mounting the turbo close to the engine, but it can be used to boost power by reasonable levels.
For a truck, I'd rather have the low end power enhancement from a magnacharger.
I actually raced a LS1 camaro based STS car with my C5. It had me by ~3-4 car lengths. Very impressive setup. Just don't try to push more than 5psi. Based ~40 miles away from me actually, so I've seen the turbo 3.4 Tacoma & a STS Tahoe. Interesting setup & wicked loud.
