Has anyone removed the Stock Auto shifter in a 96 and removed the push button linkage from it so you can shift without pushing that silly button down ? Also this would make it easier for a new shift **** install ? Can it be done ?

Or, with the electronic trans, which you have, you can accomplish the same thing by boosting shift pressure via the PCM. Now this can be done if you're having reprogramming done, or if you're not, get a Shift Plus module from B&M. It splices into two wires in your PCM harness and has two settings, firm and REALLY firm or you can turn it off and still have stock shifting. About $30 when I bought mine.
Electronic pressure boost isn't going to move more fluid. It does stress the seals more. The Trans-Go moves more fluid (increasing trans life)and speeds up down shifts too. If you haven't driven a 4L60e with a looser TC and a trans-go, you're missing out.
