LT1 Radiator Upper Shrouding

Any suggestions? This is a PITA - those little 6 bolts that connect the upper and lower housing that are 7 mm are impossible to get out...

What am I doing wrong?

I used a 1/4 inch drive socket with a bunch of differnt size extension bars. I think I had to remove the horn on the passengers side

Also the air pump on the drivers side needs to be removed. To simplify the next removal reverse the clips and the 7mm screws so you can reach them in the bumper opening. Craig

No magic at all it removing those screws. Definately reverse them when putting it back together! Good Luck!

In some of the tighter places I used a 7mm wrench in addition to the 1/4 rachet but it was really a tedis task... great call on reversing the clips...

I find it easier just to remove the hole radiator case, the only problem is you lose the a/c gas

On my 96 there are at least 3 or 4 of them that you can get to with a small ratchet, swivel and long extension combos(about 3 to a 12) from the top if you go at them directly from the side. The last few are a pain, I have some luck using a ratcheted open end. Those last few can be dealt with from the bottom easier if you go the route to reverse them and pull the plastic debri guards to the side alittle. I generally do not remove any other parts (such as the air pump).
