That sounds like me.

The problem is, you have the wrong lugnuts.

I'm pretty sure these are the exact ones you need: I'll confirm that when I get home (although I'll have no internet at home or over the entire weekend).

They'll charge you an extra fee because it's a small order. But they'll work.

The OEC wheels have a slight depression in the mounting surface, enough to clear maybe 1/8" of stud, but not a adapter lugnut.

I'd save those lugnuts and use em to bolt your new Y2ks up to the adapters.

BTW, if the countersunk holes aren't big enough (1.25" diameter), you won't be able to get a lug wrench on these 3/4" inch nuts.

How much did you pay for the adapters from VBP?

Email this guy: hbnsmail@yahoo.com

His ebay username is HBNS. I bought mine from him for $150 for a set of 4 adapters, before shipping. If he'll sell you a set (I STILL recommend 1" adapters), then just return your VBP adapters.

Here's more info in this post:

Are these going to work with the non OEM corvette Y2k rims I have with no recess flange ?? Becuase if they will then its too late now since I already sent them back down to Florida via UPS
They told me there was no other way around it except to exchange them for the 1 3/4 " adaptors instead. There was a 10 dollar difference and will be added onto the order once they recieve the ones I'm sending down.
If this is the case as you say then.. I will call them up and have them return the 1 1/4" adaptors I tried to use. Let me know asap!

Thanks

1.75" adapters will NOT work. These guys don't have a clue what they're talking about. They've never mounted reproduction Y2ks on a 84-87 vette obviously. I have.

Check your email.

I just finished suiting up the 84 CF with the OEM sawblades that came off my ZR1 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear using Vette Brakes adapters on the front .75" no issues at all. I didn't need the adapters on the rear because the rear ZR1 off set is 36mm and fits perfectly with little tire outside the wheel well. However, just for the hell of it, I did try to mount the AFS A-Mold knock off wheels on the front and ran into the same problem you did, the recess in the wheel was not large enough to fit over the adapter nuts. The adapter nuts have 13/16" heads and the OEM lug nuts have 3/4" heads. If I changed out the adapter nuts to a 3/4" head no problemo using the AFS wheels. I guess the moral of the story is, when Vette Brakes tells you the .75" adapters are to convert 84-87 16" wheels to "OEM 88-96 17" wheels," they are not bs'ing you, they do work with the right application. By the way the 84 sticks like glue on the autox courses now using 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear with Kumho Victoracer tires. That was the only reason to switch to the 17" ZR1 set up. Good luck with your project and remember "interchangable parts, won't." 84 CF 91 ZR1
