Default keyless entry problems

Purchased a 96 Vette, the keyless entry receiver was bad. Had dealer
replace PKE receiver. Then purchased remote FOB from Ebay. After
programming the remote the following functions worked:

* Remote manually opens both passenger door, and hatch.
* When approaching the car, alarm disables, and driver door opens.

Now the problem:

* When leaving the car the alarm enables, but the doors do not lock.

Could the problem be a defective PKE receiver (even though it's brand
new), or could it be the remote FOB I purchased from Ebay?

Thanks

It sounds like the FOB is working fine and it is a problem with the actule alarm system. If the alarm is setting when you walk away but the doors are not locking then it sounds like a relay some where is not getting triped. Will it unlock or lock the drivers door at all if not I would bet on a relay some where

So the PKE receiver, and FOB are funtioning properly, but you beleive I have a relay problem.

The driver door unlocks when I approach the car without incedent.

Thanks for the input, I'll look into the relay issue.

Just a thought.

Could the PKE be turned off?

Try holding the door button down for longer than 2 seconds.

This is the procedure to turn the PKE on and off.
If it has been turned off this will turn it back on.

Good luck.

I would assume the PKE is on. If the doors are locked and I aproach the car the driver door unlocks just by having the FOB in my pocket.

If I recall correctly, in the owners manual there are instructions for cycling through the functions of the PKE. I think one of the functions is to disable the automatic door lock. You can put the PKE in a mode where you have to use the button on the fob to lock and unlock the doors. Do the doors lock when you push the door button on the fob?

After many hours of troubleshooting the dealer finally agreed that the new PKE receiver they installed could be bad. Anyway after they installed a new PKE receiver everything was fully operational.

Glad that ordeal is over!
