Default Scan the PCM?

I have a 1995 Firebird Formula with the LT1 and OBDI. I bought a diagnostics cable and some software for my laptop so i can do some tuning. My friend has a 1985 Corvette with the L98 so i was wondering if i can scan and tune his car also? What kind of pcm does the 98 vette have and any other information pertaining to this subject would be much apprecaited!

I use my AutoXray to scan both the '88 Vette and the '86 IROC, I just need to change the config by entering the year and requested code from the VIN. Also, you may need a different cable for his '85 ALDL. I believe your ALDL had the OBD-II pinout.

However, I have had trouble trying to setup and scan a copla '85 Vettes. It seems that the older ECM wasn't responding properly.

If you have the 12-pin ALDL, like the '85 Vette the pins will be:
F---E---D---C---B---A

G---H---J---K---L---M

A=ground
B=test
C=Air pump switch
D=Check engine light
E=Serial data
F=Torque Converter Clutch
G=Fuel Pump Test
H=unused
J=unused
K=unused
L=unused
M=serial data

Pin E is normally used for serial data out, but some applications may also use pin M.

Pins A&B are of course the ones we short together with a paper clip to flash the trouble codes.
