Well, ran to the store last night, driving there interior was dark as usual, after I got back in the car the interior lights won't go out. pulled over, slammed both doors, screwed with the door adjar switches, and no go, lights stay on. Sooo, where to start? had to disconnect the battery so I didn't kill it. Any help on a fix and where to get parts I might need greatly appreciated.

Reason: update
The most likely cause is a defective door switch, or a door switch that has a wire pinched and shorted to ground. Door switches are closed with the door open. Next, the delay timer may be defective.
Did you try lengthening the adjustment pins in the door switches? If not, try prying out the pins in the middle of the plastic plungers just slightly with a small flatblade screwdriver.
Make sure the key slot in the door lock is vertical after you take the key out. If it isn't, it can cause the lights to stay on as the switch wears over time. Pretty common problem.
Sorry for not replying sooner, I'm in sales and yesterday was the end of year fire drill. I did try the dimmer control that night it did not clear the issue, I will try all of the mentioned fixes tonight and update on my status. Thanks for all of the replies, this forum is awesome!
OK we have a winner, first thing I did before connecting the battery was check the key slot, since it was at 2:00 or so, I keyed it back to 12:00. connected the terminal and no interior light. turned the key to the 2:00 position and the lights came on. I love a quick fix. Thanks 90Z51VETTE and thanks to all for the other tips they'll come in handy in the future.
