Window regulator intermittent problem -- how common?
I was wondering how common is it for a window regulator to fail intermittently. I had a new style (not the 84-86 kind with ribbon) regulator quit sometimes, mostly when window is in down position (!) and sometimes anywhere in between. Most embarassing when out on a date 
and a PITA when stuck open while parking away from home 
. It would start working again on it's own after a while and rapping on base of the door panel semed to help when I needed the window to start working again in a hurry 
. After a number of door panel removals to check wiring and connectors I was finally able to catch the problem with a voltmeter just upstream of the regulator motor connector -- throwing the switch showed voltage but motor/window did not move... After days/weeks of chasing my tail on this one I fianlly fixed it with a new motor/regulator assemby.
How many of ya'll had the same problem?
