I need everyone's help bad!! The wife found a cool little sticker that you put on your third brake light that lights up the word corvette when the brakes are applied. Well, last night I go out and put it on the car and have the wife push the brakes to see how it looks.....NO THIRD BRAKE LIGHT Today I go and get a new bulb and put it in.....NO THIRD BRAKE LIGHT What route do I need to take next. I felt the wiring and I didn't see any breaks in it. Has anyone else experienced this and if so HELP! Being of limited mechanical knowledge I don't know where to go next.
The fuses are good. Should I pull the taillights out and and check the wiring further up? I don't know anyone who has one of the meters that tells if there is power on that particular line.
There is a brake lamp switch at the top of the brake pedal, it splits off into the 3rd lamp and the rear lamps. If its any different for ragtops, I dont know.
That is probably the culprit, assuming the bulbs in the 3rd lamp are good.
How do you get to that switch? I just went and looked in the car and all that I see is a solid piece of black plastic that the brake pedal goes through. The bulb in the 3rd brake light is new, I just put it in there today.
Its at the top of the brake pedal. It comes in contact with it when the pedal is not depressed, when you press the pedal the switch sends power to the lights.
You'll have to remove the black hush panel to see it.
vader 86, I just noticed your profile picture and how fitting...my boy is watching "Return of the Jedi" right now and Darth Vader was just talking. How do you remove the hush panel? I really don't want to sound stupid, but I didn't see any screws on the bottom holding it in. Where are they located? How many are there?
get it???? What's that supposed to mean? Is this where that person who knows so much gets tires of reading that persons posts who don't know that much about working on their vehicle? Boy that sure is the way to keep up peoples confidence on coming to these sites to find out about problems with their vehicles. Next time I guess I will just run down to AutoZone and buy me a haynes manual instead of bothering the Corvette Gods
