Default Header question

I've seen some aftermarket headers have the air tubes on top, and some do not. For the ones that do not, what extra do you have to do when installing them?

Not sure what you're asking here... Do you *want* to have the air tubes? If so, I can only tell you about what I have - the Exotic Muscle longtubes. They come with the Air fitting welded on the outside of the header, but it isn't drilled (i.e., in case you don't want to use it). If you do, you just drill the hole out and thread your tubes in. Voila.

You can use it, or not.

Do you need an AIR system for visual? Other I'd ditch the AIR system, modern cats light off pretty quick and don't really need them (assuming you've installed a new cat).

No I don't need the air system, and plan on removing the air pump when i put on my exhaust. I don't need to pass any emmissions. I guess that's what I'm asking. Are those tubes just for the air pump? If you remove the air pump, do those tubes come with them? Do you throw any codes by not having those tubes?

I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to help an anti-Busher.....

Okie, the AIR/EGR system for these purposes are basically one in the same. You can completly remove these systems as long as you do a few things: 1. Get custom tuning to remove these systems from the computer or you will throw a code, 2. Get the nessesary block off plates for the rear of the intake manifold, 3. Either get a set of Longtube headers without the provisions i.e. Hooker 2151's or put in a plug in the manifolds i.e. m-22 oil drain plugs will fit from napa.

BTW: This will make your car less efficient for environmental purposes. Since you are a Kerry Supporter you may want to think about that.

As I previously mentioned, the EM longtubes will also work without the AIR/EGR equipment. They come from EM with the fitting in place, but it isn't drilled out. If you want/have to run the stuff for emmissions purposes, drill a quick hole and you're good to go. If not, no plugs are necessary.

when you take off the Egr/Air make sure you plug the hole where the tube came from on the air intake shroud. i wrapped it with alot of tape. www.tpis.com sells the rear block off plate thats where i got mine.
just take the whole thing out its a piece of junk!
i had to cut mine out to places i couldnt reach with a ratchet
