Default Anyone use the TPIS Cold Air Intake?

TPIS has a reverse flow cold air intake system that they sell on their site. It says it's worth .2 seconds and 2mph. Does anyone know if it's worth the $295 price tag? I know VaraRam is supposed to be developing an intake so I might wait on that.

Also it says use caution in the rain... my car is a daily driver, so would I be able to get away with it when I am forced to drive in the rain?

Thanks
-Stephen

The TPiS one is fine, but I wont believe the ,2 until I see it in a real, controlled, test.

I run the SLP ram air combined with a home-made BM air scoop under the front end and have had no problems when driving in heavy rain.

Check out Vic'89's sig; he has the TPIS ram air and any gains listed.

But I agree .2sec is a bit of a stretch over a cut lid with K&N, however over a stock C4 intake with paper air filter it could happen.

I just installed one on mine but have no numbers to back anything up. Since you have to remove the upper radiator shroud to cut it, that would be a good time to clean the radiator and ac condensor of all the debris that has gathered. You will be suprised at how much dust and trash is in there. You will want it all clean before you have an air filter breathing in there.

There is definitely a small gain from this intake.

I ran a better ET with a slower 60' time with this intake. I also upgraded from a K&N + Cutlid. I bet there is a solid tenth from a stock intake to the TPIS one.

I does take some time to install, but it is worth it.

Geez it doesn't come with a rain deflector like other systems? I've always heard that unless you're upgrading your exhaust system too, intake gains won't be too drastic. Especially for $300.

That's all I need to hear. Looks like a TPIS cold air kit for me!

PS I do have upgraded exhaust, so the intake will now be breathing in more air along with pushing it out better.

I have the TPIS on my '96. Driving in rain is not a problem. Just don't be a clown and go blasting through 3" puddles or anything....

This applies to the '90-96 model, the pre-90 may be different.

I wouldn't pay 295 plus whatever they will rape you with shipping for a .1 gain, then have to cut up your car to install it. JMO
