Default Diff Carrier "Batwing" Bushings

I am changing the carrier bushings to Polyurethane. Got the rubber and inner bolt sleeve out. There appears to be a thin sleeve just inside the casting opening. It seems that this must come out for the Poly to fit. Is that correct and how do I get that out?

when I did mine, I took a ball pin hammer and knocked it out far enought to get the bushing in. Another tip is to press out the bushing with the sleeve up so it doesn't get bent. Reinstall the poly first on this side then the other as not to bend it on reinstall.

I carefully cut through them with a file, so as not to damage the batwing, and then tapped them out with a brass punch and hammer. You could probably do it with a hacksaw too, installing the blade into the handle through the hole. I just don't keep hacksaw blades around anymore.

Thanks. Done deal! New bushings in, was easy as they were in halves.
