Datamaster and burnt chip?

Datamaster and burnt chip?
Will having a burnt chip in your vette stop the laptop from communicating with it? I hook up the laptop go to capture and it says it lost connection everytime. But when I first hook it up it says it ok. Any ideas?

I have tried to get it to run on my 93 and it won't work. It keeps saying "no sync" ???I have tried everything. I think I need to find windows 98 and try that.

I was told to try this: you need to turn off the modem and all infered conections,go into my computer and systems
device mgr and disable all the above ,On your computer tts program turn off your hand shake an it should work.
