Last week my 84 stalled while moving slowly in traffic. I decided to do a tune up changing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Now when I am moving at 50 mph 1600 rpm the car begins to shudder. Sometimes it will happen at slower speeds. Does this sound like U joints? or did I possibly screw something up while doing the tune up?
It accelerates well and shifting seems ok. It is only while crusing at constant speed that the shuddering begins. The shuddering stops while accelerating or slowing down. If I keep in in 3rd gear there isn't any problems. The problems happen while in overdrive. Does clarify the problem a little more? Thanks
At any given speed, the rpms are reduced in OD. Less fuel demand than if in 3rd. If it only happens in overdrive, it sounds like a transmission problem. OH! Did I mention that earlier?

Why would that make you think of a Tranny problem?

If all you touched was the cap, wires, rotor, that's more than likely where the problem is. I am going by the assumption the car was not exhibiting this problem before the tune-up. The engine can run with a goofed up firing order, but more than likely I would bet one of the plug wires isn't fully seated to either the plug, cap, or both. Missing a cylinder will cause your car to shudder. I just went through this and it felt like driving a stick car in too high of a gear at low vehicle speed. After I brought the R's up a bit the shuddering went away.
Go back through and verify your firing order and that your wires are fully seated on both ends.
MidLCrs also brings up a good point. You didn't happen to move the distributor to remove the cap did you? If you did you would certainly have to reset your timing.
