Default Front transverse spring questions -

Will a 1988 front transverse spring fit a 1986? How many miles are the springs generally good for? Front is sagging, can barely fit 1 finger between tire and fender flare on drivers side, maybe 1/2 - 3/4" better on passenger side. They sell wedges/spacers to lower the front end, but is there anything you can use to raise it rather than doing a total spring replacement?

Rich the answer to your first question is no, 84 to 87 transverse springs interchange, than it's 88 to 96. How long do they last? I have an 84 I autox with 79k on the clock with no spring issues, in fact I'm going to lower it for next season with the kit from Vette Brakes and Products. You might give them a call at 1-800-237-9991 and discuss your situation with them. They have been a tremendous help to me setting up the car for autoxing and are very knowlegable about Corvette suspensions. Later, 84 CF 91 ZR1

So long as springs havent started cracking/delaminated, they last forever.

88 has a different geometry than 86, so they do not interchange.

The spring actually looks fine, but I noticed some very slight/shallow cracks running lengthwise. They don't look too serious at this point, but the tire rubbing issue concerns me. I notice it more at highway speeds than at lower in-town speed - is it possible the faster I go the more the front end "sucks down" and the fatigued spring allows this to lower more than normal?

Yes, at speed the downforce from the front bumper will force the car down a little, and the spring is supposed to hold it steady but it will still drop 'some'.
