Default Flexplate and torque convertor ?'s

Well another day in the life of a C4 (ever notice that the 4 symbol is a dollar sign as in C$ lol) well today my 95 started making a ticking sound. It sounds like it is coming from the inspection sheild area of the flexplate I'm thinking maybe that one or more of the bolts may have came loose or that the flexplate is cracked any other ideas maybe the starter retracting fully? Also if I have to pull the tranny to change the flexplate I might as well change the torque convertor anyone know what the factory stall speed is and what is a good upgrade stall speed to change it to. I am also thinking of flushing the tranny fluid and adding either a B&M or Transgo shift kit while its apart. Please share your valued opinions.

I'm not too sure about the ticking, but I believe the factory stall speed is around 1200 rpm (don't quote me on that). I would go with a 2200-2400 range on a stock motor. Something a little higher to get the motor into the powerband quicker, but still have good driveability. I would get the Precision Industries Vigilante converter. If you need a new flexplate, make sure you get the right one. If your motor is stock, it is externally balanced with a standard weight on the flexplate. If your motor has been rebuilt and INTERNALLY balanced, you will need a neutral balanced flexplate. Also, the LT1 has a 153 tooth flexplate, not the older style 168 tooth. Many companies make the 168 tooth for external balance, but I'm not sure exactly where to get the 153 tooth (LT1) EXTERNAL balanced one. I'm pretty sure only ATI, in Maryland, makes the 153 tooth INTERNAL balance one. That's where I had to go to get mine I would go with the trans-go shift kit. And one very important thing, HANG THE TRANS DIPSTICK BACK IN PLACE BEFORE YOU BOLT UP THE TRANS, or you probably won't be able to snake it up in there
