Changing the LT1 temp sensor.

Mine is broke and I have to put the new one in this weekend, but I'd just hate to drain the system.
Of course, if I don't I'll probably make a huge mess.
The coolant in the system is only a few months old, so it's not like it's a need to be changed thing.
the car has 2 temp sensors.
both would be the same in changing
im guessing u mean the one on the front of the water pump...
you can take it out with a wrench but coolant will come out!
just make sure that you have towels stuffed under it to keep the coolant from getting all over the place. Also have the new sensor within arms reach!!!!! as soon as u get the old sensor it finger loose be ready to yank it out with one hand and plug the hole quickly with 1 finger! ( the new sensor already has teflon tape on it) then with your other hand grab the sensor and quickly switch the finger with the sensor! and it wont leak once u put it in place..
the one thing u must prevent is getting the optispark wet....
so make sure you use plenty of towels and have paper towels in place to wipe up any mess!
good luck
Sean

My belt broke and ripped the wire out of the old sensor.
That sounds like a pretty good plan.
I'm not too worried about the Opti because I replaced it with a sealed DynaSpark a couple months back (thus when it got it's new coolant). So in theory, I can hose her down.
