Burn valves from open exhaust?
Ok, so this old mechanic guy tells me that I will burn up my valves if I run without my mufflers without changing the fuel ratio because of lack of backpressure I think. Now I'm no chemist but that didn't sound right. The whole reason it even came up was cuz I am considering buying the muffler eliminators which are just open pipes. If backpressure is needed, wouldn't the cat do the job?

He's talking about damage from running too lean, which can burn pistons, valves, etc.
I wouldn't worry about it from running muffler elims though.
I'm running a 2 1/2" front Y, hi-flow cat and cat-back that give very little back pressure with no problems.
However, I suggest you add an AFPR so you can bump fuel pressure a little to better take advantge of increses in air flow at WOT.
