84 dash cluster question

anyone know if the 84-89 main instrument clusters are interchangable between years? thank you

I know the bulbs are different, you might call Gordon Killebrew and ask him. 1-800-398-3883. $10 per call plus $3. per minute.The 84-89 have the same 32-pin connector along with one 24 pin. But I think there are some differences.

1984 uses a different display then 85-89...
In a 1984 cluster, the tach is different. The whole display uses more colors, and the info panel in the middle is dispalyed slightly differently. I don't know if you could put a newer cluster in place of yours, but they are different.

Look at the pinouts for each model year the 84 and what you want to buy to see if they correspond. There are two connectors on the Cluster

I have a 1988or 89 in my 84. Wanted to upgrade to better electronics and graphics display. The 84's really suck and look like an old Atari game. Works great..Only issue is that the 88 has the up or down shift arrow which will not function in my 84. Everything else is fine!
