There is a special tool used to pull the pulley off. Go to a Pep Boys or AutoZone and look for it. It's pretty cheap and works well. The tool clamps around the front part of the pulley and uses a bolt to push on the shaft while pulling the pulley off.
i would always be very careful and put a screw driver in there and back up the nut? but there is a special tool but if you are careful a screw driver will work
I was unable to break the nut loose so waited till the alt needed to be replaced and let the shop use an impact wrench to break the nut free and install my overdrive alt pulley.
BTW, they said that they had to grind down a socket to tighten the nut after the overdrive pulley had been installed.
omg i just brok like 5 of the teen on the alt!!! ugh!!!!
the guy at autozone told me to put a screw driver in it!! that jackass
what should i do i cant get it loose and dont have an impact wrench

Generally speaking, Autozone and other cut-rate parts stores MAY not be the best source for technical advice....
well yea they are not the best
but they said that and someone on here told me too.
taking the alt off and taking it to the vette tech for my vette group hes doing it for free!
said that the alt fans can be either metal or plastic
mine being plastic
