Top end cleaner ??
While putting a new intake gasket on my 92 LT1, COMP94 and I noticed that inside my intake and the ports on the heads it was sort of "dirty". So, Eric mentioned GM top end cleaner. I had also heard about this stuff from another guy. Although we both were wondering if it is safe to use on an LT1?
Anyone ever used it?
Thanks,
-Rick

that "dirt" you refer to is a combination of things... part EGR, part leaky gasket, part fuel.
Put it together, let it set up, then run some Seafoam through it.
That will be fine. I did it on my 92, not much more than a little spot of smoke, did it on bastet44's 87, and got this nasty cloud.
Who knows....

Kind of/ sort of.
It was pretty black. I scrubbed it, but it didn't get all clean.

whilst it's apart, strip the TB down to it's bare components and soak it in a bucket of simple green.
next, blast it all over with water, and then hit is with carb cleaner. That will remove any extra moisture.
Finally, if you have an air compressor, hit it with that, too, and oil up the butterfly bushings.
