u ran a 13.34 at 102MPH with some mods. gee golly, i run a mph close to that and i dont even break into the 13's
This is very doable. It works out to be a 1360 hook factor(HF). The lower the HF the more efficient the car is. MPH is an indicator of horsepower. ET is an indicator of how well you use the available horses. I've seen NHRA stock class cars get HF in the 1300-1310 range. Unbelievable ET for the MPH they run. By the way, you calculate HF by multiplying the MPH times the ET. It works for the 1/8 mile too if you also multiply the results by 2.

I myself enjoy taking an efficient, underpowered car and out running some fire breathing over powered monster in the 1/4. I do know he will eventully catch me but quite often it is after the finish line. Race on!

High 12's are very possible with a L98 and bolton mods. But you have to be able to 60' hard. That is the key with an L98.

Vic
i hope to prove that next weekend either wed night at cecil or friday night at capital!

i can't wait for the -1500 DA like we had late october last year

hey man drop tire pressure and don't be afraid to heat the **** out of them! i dropped tire pressure to 18 psi on my 285/40/17" F1's and pulled several 1.81 60' times on a stock 1600 stall and 2.59 gears!

manuals won't 60' that good but 1.9x's are very doable and that would put you mid 13's

i'm looking at your pics and just curious how come you didn't siamese the upper plenum and runners? and also in your honest opinion was it worth it? i was looking at your website and noticed you didn't make any more power either torque or hp on the dyno before and after in the same weather conditions.

i'm just debating on doing this because of the 2.59 gearing and stock 1600 stall. right now there is a dead spot from launch till about 2400 rpm or so before the car pulls like a ****. always been like that but getting shorter with more mods i add. just trying to max out the stock setup before i do H/C/I setup on the new motor.

Mad-Mic, the net gain of my first siamese base came with 20hp at the wheels at about 5,200rpm. I've since had my shift points raised to 5,200rpm and 5,700rpm with very good results.

I believe I lost a little low end torque (as expected) but moving up from a 1,500rpm to a 2,000rpm TC more than compensated for any such loss.
So if your engine doesn't come on till low to mid 2k RPM you might try say a 2,400rpm TC. Then if you do the siamese intake base you will not feel any loss on low end and she will pull strongly well into the 5k RPM range.

BTW, Vic's '89 has one strong Vette; indeed in the last round on Sat. he made a 12.755sec pass (on the brakes) on a 12.68sec dial against my 13.455sec pass on a 13.42 dial.

Vic is pulling 1.7xx sec short times on ET Streets with 3.07 gears while I'm pulling 1.9xx sec short times on GY Eagles (Gatorbacks) with 2.59 gears. So indeed gears do help but traction is paramount.

Vic's car is a monster! i'll have to dig out the dyno sheet and take a pic of it for you guys. if i'm going with a stall i'm gonna do a 3200 stall. it won't be for the TPI though. it will be for my LT1 converted intake still debating on how far i want to go on the TPI system before i do the other mods. just really trying to see how far i can take it on stock internals, stock 1600 stall, stock 2.59 rear gears.

James how i was 60'ing with mine was 18.5 psi with a nice burnout and launching at 1300 rpm. i tried several different ways, leaving off dead idle, different stall speeds, but 1300 rpm seemed to net the best 60' time.

might redyno the car next week after i put some brakes on the car. man i wish you guys were closer to Cecil County! i might have to try and make it to E-Town for a race to meet you guys! been saying that all year

You should try to make one of the remaining Corvette Challenge events; we should be getting some really good weather before season end.

I appreciate that it is a long drive; it takes me 1.5hrs and those morning events are tough to make sometimes.

A professionally done set of cylinder heads can bring 30 REAL hp to the package and it will give you a great foundation to build on. Put your motor together with the correct mods for your application and let the numbers fall where they will. Your time slips are the numbers that count! Let me know if I can help. www.steadfastperformance.com
