After reading some of the threads about broken cables for the hood release, I decided to copy one of the ideas that someone else posted. Got a hold of some picture hanging wire, looped it around the release on each side of the hood, ran it thru a small metal sleeve, tied it off and soldered it. Ran the wire thru a hole on the side of the bracket and into a vacuum hose (covered by wire wrap) and down the side of the engine. On the other end I tied it off and soldered it onto a small ring so I could pull it when the time comes. I tried it and it works great.
When mine brakes, I'm calling you. I purchased that $20.00 tool and have no idea how to use it, hope I don't have to.
UH!!! ...when it brakes..it'll be too late to call me..this mod opens the hood after either side brakes. Just a pull on the ring and the broken side is released.
