The general told me my injectors were leaking so I took it to the Corvette dealer I bought it from and they replaced them. Now I learn that the injectors they put in are not OEM and have a higher output then necessary for an 85 so they had to put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on. It ran great a few days now is back to where it started. I had a scanner put on it and I'm told the pulse width is not consistant and ranges for 5 to 20. This may be impacting on the idle as well as the mileage. What do I do?? I can't afford new injectors again and the dealer said he can't return the one (the wrong ones!) he put in!! Can this be rectified? I also need to put in an ignition module and I've had a variety of prices. Pep Boys $34, local parts store said an 85 has two different modules and they need my VIN. AutoZone said $14!! and of course the general said $70. What is the difference between all of these?? I'm very anxious to solve the injector issue. Can the larger output ones be used? Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Sounds like they misdiagnosed the problem and made you pay for it.

Isn't there a GM dealer complaint number you can call to get some assistance? I would sure find out.

I would be interested in where the dealer got the injectors from. You need a set of either 21#or 22# injectors. Any larger than that and you will have to turn the pressure down on them which give a very bad spray pattern. As far as the module, call JEG's and get and Accel module for your car. The same module goes from 81-91. The reason the dealer needs your vin is because of a part# change when the changed vendors. You would get the same module either way. If you need injectors I have a set of new 21# Accel's I will sell for $300. Just e-mail me if you are interested. However I would make whoever put the wrong injectors in it refund your money.

Sorry I hate to tell you this, but all TPI 350's including the Corvette came with 22# injectors. I used to think the same that they came with 24's, but they didn't. I have had two 85's one of them was only 2 years old when we bought it and they both had 22's. Sorry but at least you know now.

I would get the dealer to put the correct injectors in and take off the adj fp regulator. They should have put on the correct injectors.

The difference in the ignition modules: the auto part stores fail to realize that all 85 Corvettes have a 7 pin module. The 2 modules they want to sell you are a 4 or a 7 pin. You need the 7 pin. The 4 pin was HEI but non-computer controlled with vacuum and mechanical advance. The computer in your Vette controls the advance and thus, has 3 more pins on it. -Matt-

if your injector pulse width is that bad, id look to see if i could find someone with an 85 ecm that you could swap in and test. it sounds like your ecm may be bad, since the problem went away and came back. i had an ecm that would do that. it would run fine on some days, and others it would run like pure sh*t with horrible gas milage. all fixed after i put in a new ecm. and yes, the 85 had 22lb injectors. thats a bunch of bs that the dealer sold you stuff you didnt need. id be calling the B.B.B. on their a*s.
