Default I need help, please!!!!

First off, the motor is a 355 with 9.8:1 CR, 224/234 @.050 .510/.512 lift cam, Vortec heads, highflow runners and base, Accel 24#/hr inj, 85 computer all in a 80 Vette. With that being said here is the problem:

The engine is backfiring throught he exhaust, not when I let off the gas but when I ease back onto the throttle after letting off the gas around 2000rpm. The car is running rich and I think that is the problem, but when I pulled the plugs last weekend, only three plugs (cylinders 1,3,& 2) where fouled.

1) So first what would make those three cylinders be rich? leaking injectors? How do I check for leaky injectors? They are new with 200 miles on them.

2) I need an ALDL connector, where is the best place to get one? Dealer? junkyard? Which cars and which years do I need? Does it have to be a TPI? I feel like I am shooting myself in the foot without one of these and I need one quick.

Any help would be great,
thanks
Josh

Is it throwing any codes? Have you checked your timming? With 3 plugs fouled-are they gas fouled (wet) or oil fouled? If there gas fouled you may need a regulator. And how about valve lash-have you checked that? More I think about it-timming, sounds like you're firing while an exhaust valve is not closed yet.

Sounds like a valve adjustment problem. Have you recently put it all together?

Yeah it only has been running for about 200 miles. It doesn't do it all the time though, only once I have driven it for a while and the pipes are good and hot.

I would go back and re-check the adjustment. I did mine and found one of mine was out by a mile. Mine was popping through the intake though....At least this way you eliminate the possibility rather quickly and who knows? You might get lucky and find one out on the easy side.

I am going to go though all the valves tomorrow. I pulled the three plugs that were fouled again today, and only two of them are fouled 3 & 2 (by the way I replaced the plugs this weekend)

So what could be causing just those two to be rich????? possibly the valves out of adjustment (we'll find out tomorrow) or maybe leaking injectors???? What do you guys think.

TIA, as I have said I am new to this game and any help is appreciated
