I replaced mine the socket they give goes in the antenna hole , loosen the holding nut then you can take the old mast out, your mast should have come with instructions if not I'll see if I still have mine. You should also take out the broken bits from the old mast, you have to drop the antenna go to tech tips the procedure is there. Good luck Jim

The stoppers don't actually hold the sleeve in place, they are electrical contacts. There is no lip on the outer shaft so they shouldn't hang on anything. Once the nut is off the sleeve should slide right out. That's assuming your antenna is the same as the 88 Harada, though.

I tried several times to get the mast out of my 91. Those springs or electricals fingers or whatever they are will not come loose. The good part is that after all of the pulling the contacts must be working because now it extends all the way up 9 of 10 times. Go figure.
