For the past couple weeks, my passenger side headlight was getting stuck halfway around, as if getting jammed on something. The motor wouldn't continue running. Then if I popped the hood, it worked fine.

Well it turns out that the metal bracket holding the metal coolant line to the lower recovery tank worked its way loose, so the metal tube was sticking up about 1/2 inch higher than it should, and the headlight was hitting it. Not sure how it got loose since I had to use a screwdriver to pry the clamp back on, but that did the trick.

And I don't have to rebuild my headlight motor!

Unfortunately, I also noticed that the tank was nearly dry, so now I have to figure out where my coolant leak is.

Doh, one thing I just realized is that if the metal line was elevated, the rubber connector may not have been fully seated to the connector on the tank... so maybe coolant was leaving the reservoir but leaking as it tried to get back in. I didn't think to look for signs of coolant around the radiator side of the tank.
I added coolant to the tank so we'll see how this theory holds out.

Thanks! Just had this happen to me the other day and this post was right on the money. I removed and reseated the clamp to the coolant tank and also slid the entire metal coolant line forward a bit and that seems to have fixed the problem. I can see where the headlight apparatus was hitting the coolant line over time. Amazing how close the tolerances are under the hood.
