I changed the air filter on our Honda Accord recently, and the filtration material in the new, OEM filter looked like very dense, dry cotton. It made me wonder if it is a material that is superior to paper or the oiled cotton used in K&N filters. Does anyone know? By the way, in his book about C4 maintenance projects, Richard Newton argues that the oiled filters are no better than paper filters. Any opinions on that?
The riceburners always upgrade to K&N filters too.
The K&N, Accel Blue, etc...filters are not any better than the stock paper filter when clean. When the paper gets dirty, it becomes very restrictive..whereas the K&N filter remains fairly constant in the airflow.
