Default How do I remove the main driveshaft?

I already dropped the exhaust and am wondering how to get out the main driveshaft from this point. There are 2 straps that hold the rear u-joint in place. Once I remove those, I will need room to slide the shaft towards the transmission to break the rear u-joint free from its mount. Does the shaft have room to move towards the tranny or will I need to remove the brace that attaches the transmission to the differential?

I just had mine out, but I was also swapping differentials. But I THINK if you unbolt the C-beam, you can wiggle it out. Make sure and support the rear of the trans.

The drive shaft and the c-beam kinda come out together.

Support the rear of the tranny, and slide the c-beam forward, letting it drop out, then the drive shaft can be loosend and removed.

There ya' go! Also, to answer the other part of your question, which I missed before, the driveshaft will slide forward into the trans and give you plenty of forward movement to drop it out of the pinion yoke.

I don't even remember how I did it. But, I removed the driveshaft with the exhaust and C-beam intact.

Thanks for the info Once I unbolted the straps the driveshaft slid forward and came right out without having to touch the c-beam.
