Today I had two people in suv's try to out corner and out accelerate my vette. I finely had a enough of this monkey business and went into a long sweeper of a corner and keep accelerating to see how long they would last. Wow what a sight in my rearveiw mirror as I watched him get in over his head and start to slew around in the corner. At this point I floored the vette and just pulled away. I guess he had enough because he practcally came to a stop. What makes them think they can put oversize tires on and then perform with car like a vette.
I had an old guy in a 69 chevy pick up do the same thing to me. He nearly ran off the road when he finally lost it. I kept thinking WTF was he thinking????

I had a similar situation just this morning with an SUV, although it was leading into some twisties instead. The roads from town out to my house are full of them. He tried to hang through the first one and then fell WAY back when he almost got behind on his steering! Happens a lot around here with so many Dale Earnhardt wannabes in my "heart of NASCAR" area. Always fun to watch!

I see this very often and just don't understand how someone could think that a pickup truck is going to outperform a Vette on take off and around a corner. The 2 trucks I see do this most often are, Dodge Magnum and Modified Chevy Full size. Whe they sit a the light and roast the tires, I am already gone without wheel spin. And the center of gravity is just to high to try that crap in a curve.
Well I have been guilty of this. But not with a Y body or F body as I have both and know what they will do. I have done this recently with two ricers ( Honda Accord and Acura Integra) that had just lined up next to me at a light while I was in my truck. They took off to race each other and so I took off with them. Boy they were surprised that even with their decals and 4 inch exhausts, that I was right along side of them the whole way. Then when they realized they could not leave me, they stayed accelerating as we came in to traffic and prooved, by weaving through traffic, that they were bigger idiots than me. I just backed off and smiled.
Few yrs ago, I got head&cam combo on my 93LT1. I had a Trans Am WS6 and a Mustang 4.6GT , this two guys as they see me drive by and both of them actually made U turn and want to play. Both are gone down.
Yep, it is great fun and sweet revenge to watch some idiot who was tail-gating into a sweeping turn try and "hang on".
I've seen more than one rolling up onto the outside tires and then start heading for the "tall grass". Often this happens on one of several sweeping on-ramps in the area. Afterward it's strange how the errant driver seems to hang back a respectable distance.
I guess it's just part of the "fun" of owning & driving a Corvette.

Man...I was just thinking the same thing to myself this morning when the wife and I were on a nice drive on the PCH north of Half Moon Bay. Some jobber in a Tahoe passed me, and then decided he wanted to go the speed limit. So when I swung out into the right lane to pass him back - as we're going up a hill into a sweeping right turn - he floors it. Yeah...I guess it didn't take too much of seeing the ocean on the left and a Vette driving away on the right for the guy to decide it wasn't gonna happen.
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who encounters the "racing suv's" I cannot believe that there really are people that stupid. Most of the time I just let them go because I know what I've got and they're too stupid to impress anyway.
On a tight entrance ramp curve, I have had, first a muskrat on my tail and coming out of the sweep and me seeing headlights swooping everywhich way, he wasn't there. The next morning (I went to work this way everyday) I see twirly doos in the mud.
The next wannabe was a GTO on my bumper around this turn, same deal, I come out of the turn and no one is there, and more fresh doughnuts in the mud! I love my Corvette!!!
I had a soccer mom in a Porche Cayene S try and keep up with me, no contest
I thought the cayenne was supposed to be fairly fast. For $90,000 it ought to be. However, the Cayenne is the epitome of SUV absurdity. Like anyone is going to take one those offroading...
i remember as a kid in my uncles camero, he called it 'sports car turns"...we'd be going on an on ramp at some outragious speed or so i thought at the time...now fifteen years later i'm the one doing the on ramp stunts...good times
