Default Difference between 88-89 master cylinders?

What's the difference between these two years as far as master cylinders go?

They have different part numbers, and every Corvette shop I've seen them for sale at put them into different categories with different prices. However on places like eBay (not that I'm looking to buy one from there), it's common to see "88-93" or "88-94" master cylinders.

What's different about them, and can an 89 master cylinder be used on an 88?

The resevoir & diaphrams will work but the '88 master cylinder & proportioning valve have a part number unique to '88 model year.

At some point in 1988, they went to the dual reservoir MC

The 89 will fit and work fine!
