ok read some replys from you guys, quick update went to car this morning, it still fires, starts, then dies instantly! asr light stays on plus the sys, and security flash when key is on. you can keep it running by jiggling the gas pedal, but runs like crap, pops spits backfires, and as soon as you let of the gas it dies. even while its running mechanic hooked up tech 2 and no response from new ecm and new ccm! i found the tach filter like people said and cut it off and no change, then tied to two white wires together and bybassing it leaving the black wire alone and still nothing, so dont think its tach filter unless im bypassing it wrong? and there is no ignition module that im aware of on a optispark system. and my mechanic cant figure out why the ecm and ccm dont communicate? what do i do? i ready to fly someone out here to fix this????????
first, do you and the mechanic have a Helms Manual? If not, you are flying blind... namely, cause there IS an ignition module. It is called the "coil driver" or any number of names.
It is located on the coil. If it is bad, it will cause these kinds of problems to occur.
You need the helm manual - it is the factory service manual. It has all the troubleshooting and diagnostic steps required to debug this problem.

they replaced the coil when they did the optispark, maybe its the wrong one? should i replace that next? i will buy the helms manual..
Bogus is right. When my ignition module tanked earlier this year, it took the coil with it. I replaced both and the car fired right up and has been runnin' like new money ever since.
If you DO replace the ignition module, be sure and coat the back of it with some silicone gease or it will fry itself to death over time. The grease helps the module dissipate heat.
