A friend of mine once said, "Corvette means a harsh ride". I don't necessarly agree with that, yet I can understand where it comes from. That being said, a cheap shock is gonna wear out faster cause its cheap. Delco, KYB, K-Mart and all the other wannabe shock brands are not going to last 30K miles. Bilsteins, Koni, QA1 to name a few are built by shock manufactures who have their product name and reputation to uphold. These brands are gonna last 60-70K miles plus, and have a rebuildable option as an added bonus! The ride quality is superior and adjustable in most cases to suite your comfort zone. Plus that amount of money spent replacing shocks is going to end up costing you the same amount of money as if you bought one set of good shocks.
I have over a 120K on the Koni Sports on our 86 VW GTI. Just recently moved the valving one half turn firm to compensate for "wear". My old Autocrosser was 4 years strong on the same set of Konis before I sold her. Our 86 coupe has a set of Koni's that I turned down to minimum recommended and Wifey loves the ride.
And shocks are not like a "Craftmatic adjustable bed". You don't set the passenger side lite and the drivers side firm!
