Well, the sidepipes are off along with the old custom headers. Got the first hedman header on and noticed a problem. The right side goes into the floorboard. I've seen this solution http://www.hpracecraft.com/car_Sonnys_Vette.html
using the two s-pipes to move the pipes over. Is this what everyone is doing who has this problem or is there another way?

That's odd because I've test-fitted Hedmans on my '95 before and they fit perfectly. All of their many part numbers for the C4 are the same configuration.
I've never heard of issues with hedman's fitments. In fact just the opposite that they have fit perfectly in just about every case.
What model Hedman do you have?
What year/engine is your car?
are you sure you have the right header?

Well, they are made for the L98, as Hedman does not make their cheap headers in LT1 trim, same as hooker. However, just like hookers, they should fit the same. I have moddified my engine internally quite extensively, but the outside is the same. I do have the correct part number headers for an L98.
In the end, I guess I'm going to have to get some of those S-bends to go in there.
Maybe one day when I win the lottery(gotta start playing first) I'll get some of those headers actually made for an LT1, in the mean time, I gotta get a real exhaust on my car. I enjoy a good challenge.
Also a new surprise, the Hedmans have a new gasketless fitment that I am not looking to happy upon, but it will allow for a little bit of off centerness.
I put coated Hedmans on a couple yrs ago ( '86 L-98)...no fitment problems, but I did have to make a support bracket for the Alt. and rig some spacers for it,and the AC. Not a big deal for me.

I'm curious because I plan on ordering a set from Summit soon
Go to Hedman's site and check it out real good. No matter whether you need emissions or not, pick a part number from the "Elite" series. These have 3/8" thick flanges and much heavier pipe. Also, they are all coated. Summit has the 68448 for around $325 but there is a wait for them. Usually a month or two. I assume Hedman waits for a certain amount of orders before they make a run of them. The 68448 is an emissions legal header for the L98. There is also a non-A.I.R. version of it too I believe, but I don't remember the number. Unfortunately they do not build an LT1 specific header but they will all fit.
Okay, I got curious so I revisited their site. Here's the breakdown. In the Elite series, they offer the 68448 that I mentioned before. It lists for 84-91, A.I.R. They also show a 61448 also in the Elites that is listed ONLY for 84-86, go figure. They are also A.I.R. equipped. The only thing I can figure is that maybe the latter number is not as compatible with the later D-port heads, I don't know. In the Street Series and these are the cheapies now, they show the 68440. This is the "Ebay special" that you see very cheap. Summit has them for about $120, I think. They have no A.I.R. tube provisions. Also the 68441, once again for 84-86 only and emissions legal and the 68447 for 84-91 also emissions legal. Someone had mentioned a 68446 in this thread. I think that I too have run across that number somewhere but I could not find it on their site. A call to their tech line could probably provide that info though. I've talked to them a couple of times, they seem pretty knowledgeable about their product. If you want the well built headers, make sure they are from the Elite series. Some of the cheapies are also available coated so don't get mixed up. The Elite series all have 3/8" flanges and heavier pipe. The Street Series has only 1/4" flanges and thinner walled pipes. All Hedmans for the C4s are 1 5/8" primaries into 3" collectors. Whew!

The headers I have are the 68446 HTC coated headers. $325 delivered from Jegs. Here is what they say on Hedman's website about the HTC coated headers:
Hedman Hedders was the first manufacturer to introduce advanced aerospace technology to the hedder industry. The alloy of ceramic-metallic composition used by hedman, now known as HTC (Hi-Tech Coating), was and still is considered the very best thermal coating available for your hedders.
HTC is bonded to your hedders with a strength factor exceeding 10,000 PSI. This durability makes the finish resistant to abrasion and chipping. Oil and grease stains can be removed with polish or fine steel wool.
HEDMAN'S HTC COATING IS GUARANTEED against external rust-through for a FULL 5 YEARS. Together with Hedman's Lifetime guarantee against defects in workmanship, you will have years of worry-free hedder ownership.
I do know that they cool down quickly and I have no stains on them from some wire loom that had come undone on my knock sensor and touched them.

I've used cheapies before on cars that I drove year around when I lived further north where road salt was used extensively. I also got great service out of them. The only Corvette headers I think are worth the big money are the stainless steel ones for obvious reasons such as material price. I think it's great that Hedman makes headers that anyone can afford and doesn't invoke the "Corvette tax" even for their best ones!
