I asked my engine builder about this yesterday - I told him I wanted a Cloyes double roller put on my LT1 and he informed me it wasn't possible. I noticed a couple guys on the forum had them in their signatures but I guess they must have done the electric water pump conversion. I really hope I don't run into trouble with my timing chain because I'll be running the LT4 Hot Cam.
Does anyone make a double roller chain for an LT4 you can use with a stock water pump, not electric?
The other issue with the '96 LT1 & LT4 is the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring that is sandwiched between the hub and the crankshaft timing chain gear.
With using the stock W/P you must use an LT1/4 timing set. Cloyes makes a couple but none are double rollers. With the LT4 even if you went to an electric pump it would still be a problem because of the CPS as GS96 stated. I have seen it done on a LT4 but it took a bit of machining to get the DR to work with the CPS. For a normal LT1 as long as you go with an electric W/P is a straight bolt in item

I just removed the reluctor ring and PCMforless reprogrammed the computer....no machining required with this approach.....then used Cloyes Double roller & Meziere HD electric water pump....

Thats almost what i have done. I switched to an OBDI computer programmed by PCMForless and an electric water pump. This eliminates the need for the CPS.
