Default Xpipe and High Flow Cats

Any idea how many ponies I could pick up by adding an Xpipe and Random Tech or Magnaflow High Flow Catalytic Converter to my existing mods on my 1996 LT4 [corsa catback, gm hotcam, tb air foil, 160 ts, LT1 edit custom tuning]. That's right no headers, and no cnc heads. It currently dynos at 331 rwhp and 318 rwtq.

The Xpipe will add more noise and according to what I've read before not that much more power. Considering that the stock cats flow pretty well, I would say 5-10 hp would be the max you could expect from these changes.

The only thing an X pipe did for me was infuriate my neighbors. It lasted maybe one week. If you like the local cops to hear you coming 3 blocks away an X pipe is for you!!! Just my 2 cents.

I guess I am just looking to bolt on about 20 more rwhp for a total of 350 rwhp. I am not sold on long tubes. I tried shorties went back to my stock manifolds. Is there a way to know if I am air flow intake or air flow exhaust restricted by looking at the dyno sheet?

I have a similar question.

So, will a set of random techs + Xpipe + stock mufflers & exhaust still be too loud?

I don't know of a way to tell from looking at the dyno sheet, but look at it this way. The stock LT4 has the same exhaust components as a LT1 yet it's rated at 30 more horses. The increased horsepower mainly comes from the improvents to the intake side (heads, cam, intake) so it would stand to reason that you should open up the exaust side. I would think that with a pair of LT headers, RT cats and a good flowing exhaust such as the Corsa or B&B you should attain your goal of an additional 20 RWHP.

No, it shouldn't be too loud because the stock mufflers are pretty quiet. I put on a set of Magnaflow mufflers on my car (rest of the system is stock) and the noise level increased considerably.

I went from stock exhaust to Hooker shorties and Corsa. Good seat of the pants improvement. Then went to TPis LT's, Random Techs and Flowmaster catback. BIG difference. LT's is the way to go if you don't have to worry about a visual inspection.

I've also heard that the LT1s tend to be a tad quieter than the L98s. Is this true?
