How much oil goes into 4L60 and which brand is recomended?

0 quarts... it doesn't take "oil". I recommend synthetic ATF (automatic transmission fluid). Mobil 1 seems to be some great stuff. Lots of people have posted slightly lower tranny temps with this stuff, and obviously because it is synthetic it won't break down as quickly at the higher temps.

I believe that the entire tranny holds 12 quarts. If you just drop the pan to change the fluid all of it doesn't come out (because of the torque converter), then u need to put about 5 quarts back in. I don't have my service manuals in front of me, so this may be wrong, but that is what I remember.
