Check out the Delteq opti-direct ignition www.delteq.com
It has 4 coil packs for more spark, looks cool, and makes changing the plug wires a LOT easier. All of the parts appear to be very high quality. They did find that in extreme high temperatures, the glue that holds the opti-box together can melt and the box can come apart, so they sent me a new box with higher temp sealant, before I even fired up my new setup. Very good customer support.
How long have you had Opti-Direct in-use?
The pricing:
Part No. Description Retail Price Factory-Direct Price
102-9001 Opti-Direct "Bare-Bones" Kit. Complete kit minus coilpack and spark plug wires. $409.00 $347.65
102-9010 Opti-Direct System for 1992-1996 LT1/LT4 Corvette $785.00 $667.25
Shows a big difference from the 348 version to the 668 one.
I have had mine for over a year with no problems what so ever. I got the bare bones kit with wires for some where around $380 and bought a set of coils off e-bay for $120 and they where brand new here is a link to the same person i got mine from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...928563599&rd=1
Many thanks ! I just sent him an email.
I'm just curious, why did you not opt for the full Opti-Direct System (667 dollar one)? I want to make sure I get this right while the engine is accessible!
I've had the Dynaspark on for about a week and a half.
It works great. A regular opti that's new would probably work great too. My biggest goal was to get something that will last a long time. With the original crap design of my earlier version - there was tons of room for improvement. The cross flow ventilation is what really sold me.
This is not a performance enhancing modification. It is just the replacement of a failing part.
If I had a 95 or 96, I would have gone stock. Ventilation is already there, the price is lower than the early units (no idea why).
About the multiple coil option: It isn't a "stock replacement" part - so it has to have a CARB(California Air Resources Board) Exemption Order number associated with it to pass the biannual emissions testing. It doesn't pollute more - it's just an unauthorized change from stock. It doesn't pass the visual portion of the test.
The dynaspark is considered a stock replacement part. This might be a consideration if you live on the Left coast

I have Post #17 earmarked already as soon as I figure out whether to go delteq or dynaspark
What doesn't come with the delteq set - listed in the link?
