There's about a 99% chance I'll finalize the deal on my first 'vette tomorrow. 1988 vert, automatice, 57K - CarFax checks out and the car looks clean and well cared for, seems to run and drive nice. But . . its on a small car lot which alwyas makes me nervous, and the guy on the lot doesn't know much about 'vettes.
1) There is a 3 postison rocker switch between the shift and center counsel box - is this for Select Ride? If so - whcih positions are whcih?
2) If it is sectec ride - how can I tell if its functioning?
3) behind the rocker switch there is a small box, about 2" X 3" with what looks like three small "joy stick" like things - any ideas? Or am I just imagining this?
Finally, the only obvious problem with the car is that the drivers power seat does not want to move forward and back. Is this a terribly expensive fix? Is there a way to adjust the forward/back position manually until its fixed?
Welcome to the forum. Select ride was not an option until 1989. The 3 position switch is for the mirror adjust. The toggles in the box are the adjustments for the seats. Good luck and enjoy the vette, they are fun (and veryaddictive)
The togles in the box are for the seats? I thought the seat controls were just on the side of the seat? Well, then maybe the seat isn't broken after all!
Thanks - I love feeling dumb. God this is going to be a STEEP learning curve
I have the 1989, yours has the same wheels if it still has the stock wheels. Make sure the key for the wheel covers is in the center console and works with your wheel locks. Mine had a couple stripped locks when I got it and I had to drill the old lock bolts out. It,s the dealers problem til you sign the papers, so you may want to check before signing.
