I need my speedo recalibrated ? Just went from 4.11s to 4.30s... What does it normally cost to re-flash the chip for the correction ?
What does it cost to buy all the stuff it takes to program the chip ?
Thanks...
On 91 an earlier cars, there are only two good ways of calibrating the speedo. Best is to just get the proper gear set in the tranny tail housing to match the rear. Sorry I do not have the URL, but I have seen a link that had all the various gears and what ratios they were for. It is a bit of work to get the gears on, having to remove the drive shaft, tail housing, etc.
The other way is to get one of these electronic calibrators that you wire off the VSS. You flip dip switches to change the ratio.
Here is one I found but I have seen them much cheaper:
My information shows speedo gears to 1993. The Corvette charts only list factory available gear ratios, so neither the 4.11 nor the 4.30s are shown. More info needed.
Check out Abbott Enterprises Electronic Ratio Adapter (ERA). You can reach them @ (800) 643-5973 or www.abbott-tach.com. Simple 4 wire hookup. This is the same unit Ecklers sells in their catalog.
