Intermittant stalling on '96
My car is a '96 with 58k miles. In the last two weeks the engine has stalled twice...once at idle, and once while cruising at 1500rpms. The water pump appears to have started leaking so I immediately suspected the opti, but after some more contemplation, I wonder if it could be an electrical problem. Both times the car stalled, there was *no* hesitation or sputtering; it was like someone just shut the ignition off. I was able to fire it up immediately afterwards, no problems. Otherwise the car runs fine except for some very minor hesitation from 1500-2000 rpms in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear under light throttle.
No SES lights. I'll scan for codes today but don't expect any...
plugs have 10k
coil and module have 2k
opti, wires, and fuel filter are original
I have a loose ground wire near my driver-side cat but it's been that way for several months. I'll go ahead and replace the opti... I just want to verify that I'm replacing the part at fault.
Any other thoughts? What else should I check out (loose plugs, etc)? Thanks in advance!
