I am going to remove my radiator tomorrow and clean up the debris that seems to collect in that dead air space. I have read the tech tip on performing this task.
What I am curious about is if there are any secrets or things that I need to watch out for or anything that will make this job easier......
I did mine two week ends ago. What a diff. it made. I can't think of any real problems I had other than the bolts around the shroud by the ps and dryer are a little hard to get to with out a long extention. Other than that a piece of cake. took me about 2-3 hours. Don't remember the bolt sizes but there are three sizes you'll have to deal with. I had no torx bolts to remove on mine. Good luck and clean well my friend.
I pulled mine out and dropped a new radiator in in under 2 hours. Every bolt is visible if you are thorough, and easy to get to with a big extension. I believe it's 6mm (little ones), 10mm (most of them) and 13mm ( fan)
Did mine today, (94) took about 3 hours. 7mm, 10 mm, 13mm. hardest ones were on the sides of the shroud (7mm) made a 40 degree diff in temp around town. it was really bad!!! good luck!
It is an easy straightforward job. When the radiator is out make sure you clean the radiator as well. Use Simple Green full strength on the radiator to remove the road dirt which has built up over the years.
If you have an automatic, spray the transmission line bolts with WD40 and let them sit for a while. This will help prevent the lines from crimping when youloosten the bolts.
