I need to find out what gap to use i have an 85 the cars info stats on the radiator say .035, the book at wal marts says .045. So i used .050 on my split fires and they are shot already very carboned up.I also have a hypertech rotor cap 53,000 volts.
I need your input please jay
P.S the reason for the .050 i heard if i had a high voltage cap it would run better. I have to disagree here LOL

I have the Hyper Tech coil/cap/rotor, TPIS wires and cut-back SplitFires gapped at .048".
Install some good wires and cut the ground electrode back to the inner edge of the center electrode for 10HP and better mileage too (it gives a better charge burn).

Cut the ground electrode on the plugs, correct? if so, how do you accomplish that?

That's right, cut the end of the spark plug ground electrode back to unshroud the center electrode. I used a Dremel cut-off wheel and then a fine file to dress up and remove any sharp edges or burs. Or you could just carefully file the ground electrode back.
Time slips showed a consistent 10hp gain (i.e. 1mph trap speed increase); and mileage now is over 30mpg highway (with 2.59s).
This mod is from TPIS "Insider Hints" and from Dave Emanuel's book on SBCs.

Have you tried that on any plugs besides split fires?
Sounds interesting ......
