Well my new powerful motor (ZZ4 SuperRam) 2 weeks old just ate the transmission (3/4 clutch). I even put in an extra transcooler, and a new Protorque 2200 stall convertor. This is the fourth GM Black B Trans in 11 years. NO MORE! Level Ten is very expensive, but would be worth it, if I dont need to do this again. Anybody running this trans or have dealings with this company? Why me lord? I am gettin too old to walk.

What is it that keeps breaking in your tranny?

Their PTS3 is heavy duty version of 700R/4. I have one with their 2400 rpm lockup TC in my '86 IROC for 3yrs now. The entire setup was $2100, out the door. I didn't consider that expensive for a performance unit.

Talk to Pat Barrett at Level 10 and discuss your setup and problems.

I guess my right foot keeps breakin the transmission. Too much sudden throttle, so I am told. I had the same problem with clutches, in my youth. Thanks 65Z01 for the info, I will call monday. They quoted me a price of 2400 plus converter. They didnt have one in stock. I put my in garage and pretended, I was going to pull it myself. The bottom side don't look too bad. but the upper trans case to engine block looked like a nuckle buster. I couldnt even get to the bolts with my fingers from top. The Manual doesnt say how to get to them either. There are alot of cables in the way too. Whining will get me no-where.

$2400 + convertor ???

Does this price include the R&R of the tranny ? Does it include the core ?

Price seems high to me.

Vic

http://www.levelten.com/store/gm/ite...9000_trans.htm I was confusing the price with another company. This one is only $2245.

A 700R4 won't live very long behind an engine with > 400ft lbs of torque. I've gone through six of them and gave up. I've had multiple shops build them. The level 10 may handle the rated power, but not for very long. That's exactly why Callaway chose a custom turbo400 with an overdrive for the twin turbo cars (562 ft lbs of torque ).
