Removing clear coat from lexan targa

One of my (many) projects is to remove the peeling clear coat from the targa. Who has done it and what process did you use? Do I need to sand the clear or can I remove it with a mild form of paint stripper?
Any and all help appreciated.
I'd start with #800 grit to get the bulk of the coating off and then follow up with finer grits to minimize the scratches from the preceding coarser wet sandpaper. You probably want to end up with #2000 grit and then use a good polishing compound followed by a glazing polishing compound. Be sure to use a sanding block to ensure you keep the sanded surface flat. Not using a sanding block may very well produce a waviness that will be evident after the top is polished to a high gloss.
Let me know how this works ... and I’ll let you do mine since you’ll be experienced.
