Valve seals question.

I have a set of Comp Cams Springs, Ti locks, keepers and rubber seals (both O-ring and umbrella types) ready to go in.
The stock setup uses an O-ring and a "shreader" under the lock to limit oil flow down the valve stem.
Here's the problem. The new Ti locks don't fit into the shreader. So I have the option of discarding the shreader and using the umbrella oil seals over the valve guide with the bare O-ring up top.
Can I just slip the umbrella seal over the stock valve guide inside the spring and all will be well, or do I need to have the outside of the valve guide machined first? These rubber seals are very flexible and slide over the guide easily, but I just don't want them to work loose in use.
Also, does the O-ring go on after the spring is compressed and the retainer in place as I've read? The stock O-ring was toast so don't know how it was installed.
I feel close, but still need a little more help with this "simple" project.

And, since I'm discarding the shredder, I can use the umbrella seals over the valve guides too?
