Just wondering, I have an 84 and would a new computer perform better than the original old computer? I do not mean just the chip but the whole computer, can anything wear out from age and change performance? My home pc needs replacement parts once and awhile that get old and do not perform up to original specs.

Thanks
Dave

Well the computer will get old. It doesnt have a hard drive (most common failure on a pc) but it can get old and can start to fail. You will notice signs of failure by your car acting real strange.

Old girlfriend said my hard drive wasn't big enough and didn't have enough processor speed or memory. Hope she was talking about my computer....

A new ECM may be the ticket if you are having lots of problems with the ECM. printed circuits, the board itself, soldered connections, wires can all go bad.

Ive heard of people getting all kinds of good gas mileage and etc from changing their ecm, might be worth a shot for only like $100.

Well I think I will install a new ecm, my dash is already all apart so it is easy to do now. Will report improvements if any.

The either work or they don't. I never heard of anything in between.
